Terrell High School has a wonderful senior leaving its hallways this year!  I was fortunate to be able to meet and work with Tyler, and his amazing horse Blue Duck, for some memorable senior pictures last month.  Tyler is a competitive roper, and spends much of his time practicing and competing.

We knew that we wanted his portraits to include Blue Duck, so we scoured the area for the perfect place for his session.  His mom found the perfect spot in Glenn Heights, Tx, called Stone Canyon Ranch.  The ranch has beautiful scenery!  Rock cliffs, a creek, fields, everything a photographer would love for this kind of session.  The day turned out beautiful, too.  It started out overcast, but by the end there were beautiful blue skies with puffy white clouds.  I couldn’t have asked for anything more for this session!

I really wanted to make sure I captured important details about Tyler’s horse, as well as the relationship they have together.  So much of their time is spent together, and it was important that I capture this for their memories later on.  Once I was done with both of them, I definitely got some great pictures of Tyler alone.

I love senior sessions so much, because we get to truly design something special that really focuses on the individual senior.  Whether it’s a musical instrument, sport, or exciting hobby, it’s important to make sure we capture them before heading off to college!

I met AC, a senior from The Colony High School, up in Frisco for our portrait session.  He wanted something a bit more urban, so we headed over to Frisco Square to get his images.  AC plays football and basketball, so he brought his jacket with him for some pictures.

We started out at the arches in Frisco, which is one of my favorite locations there!  I love the colors and the curved and straight lines.  And they worked perfectly with AC’s first outfit choice.

From there, AC changed shirts and we walked away from the arches to the next spot.

And finally, we added his jacket for the last pictures.  AC did such a fantastic job at his session!

  • Courtney - The Colony High School has some awesome seniors this year!  You did a fantastic job of capturing some great senior pictures that this family can look back on as his time as a Colony Senior.  🙂ReplyCancel

I’ve realized I haven’t blogged many of the sweet family sessions I had last Fall, so they are coming soon!  I had this family back in November, and they were such a pleasure to work with.  Their little boy was absolutely adorable, down to his sweater with leather patches on the shoulders.  We held this session at a local park in Flower Mound, which has a field and nearby creek.  It was a great location to engage their little boy, and let him explore a little!  I always love capturing those little details that you don’t want to forget, particularly when they are so little and curious.

Madison

On a beautiful February day, we ventured down to Bishop Arts District in Dallas for Madison’s senior pictures.  We got stuck in some horrible traffic, and what should have taken 45 minutes took over an hour and a half.  But we made it!  We only had a short time there before we’d lose the light, so we were hustling around as best we could.

Madison is a bright young woman, who I look forward to working with whenever I get the chance.  She always rocks our sessions, giving me the perfect amount of joy and sass.  And it’s so fun catching up with her!  She was a student in my 5th grade class many years ago, and the daughter of a coworker and friend.  So getting to take her senior pictures was very special for me.

Bishop Arts District is a great location because there is such variety there.  There is a graffiti house with a swing, lots of cool murals, and a small enough street that I can get pictures in the middle of it.  It’s a great location for anyone wanting an urban or graffiti look!

Marcus High School senior Blake wanted some of his senior pictures out at Old Alton bridge, or “Goatman’s Bridge”.  The rest we took at Stone Creek Park.  Both are busy locations, but I love using them!  They have such character and are very special in our area.

Blake is into sports, particularly soccer and football, and also enjoys being involved in church.  He will be working and going to community college after he graduates, but then will move on to Texas A & M.  He will have a blast after high school, for sure!
