First Birthday Celebration!

Twin Boy Cake Smash

The perfect pictures to celebrate a first birthday.

Twins One Year Portraits

Sometime last year, I had a super fun twin boy cake smash. The theme was simple – just focusing on them, and their precious family. I love being able to capture those little faces and the joy (or confusion) when they get to smash that cake! The beautiful We always start our cake smashes with portraits – just getting those smiles and laughs. Focusing on the details – the hands, chunky feet, and eyes. Grabbing a quick family shot – because it’s a perfect time to make sure you have one or two photos of the whole family together. Let’s face it – we might have tons of pictures on our phones, but how many have the entire family together? They either have one parent, or the other, but generally not both.

Then, we move on to the cake smash itself. Do you want to know what can make or break a cake smash? Let your little one have a little sample of the icing beforehand. That way, they already know that it’s edible, and that it tastes good. Just make sure you grab it from the back! Another little trick – if they don’t like it, or are generally just a little hesitant to try new things, grab a little snack like the puffs or cereal bites. We can always stick them in the back so it looks like your little one loves the cake, even if they’re just going for a special treat.

Cake smashes get messy. That’s most of the fun! Making sure your kiddo is wearing something that you don’t mind getting cake all over is really important. If you think that will bother you, just go straight to a diaper. It’s all good!

Cake smashes get messy, especially this twin boy cake smash. That’s most of the fun! Making sure your kiddo is wearing something that you don’t mind getting cake all over is really important. If you think that will bother you, just go straight to a diaper. It’s all good!

Oh, and I have my families bring their own cakes. If there are any allergies or food intolerances, they already know about it, or at least know what they’ve tried and is safe. But think about the cakes you bring – do you really want that bright red icing to be all over your little one’s face? I love the look of the “naked” cakes, that just have a thin layer of plain white icing. They are delicate, beautiful, and don’t take attention away from the subject – your birthday baby!

Looking to schedule your cake smash? I offer them in studio, or outdoors on location!
