Grapevine Lake Maternity Session

I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet couple for a maternity session out at Grapevine Lake a few weeks ago. They found me on Facebook, and I am so glad they did! Once we ensured that I was available when they needed pictures, I sent them my questionnaire that helps me plan their session. It gives me an idea of what images they’re looking for, what locations they like, and if there’s anything special about their pregnancy.

One of the things that I always encourage my pregnant clients to do is rent a maternity dress specifically for the session. The dresses that photograph so beautifully are often not ones that you would wear out and about, or even on special occasions. They are designed to hug those pregnancy curves. They photograph so well! I always send my clients to the Facebook page of The Photographer’s Trunk. They have such a variety of dresses. Style, color, theme – so many to choose from! This stunning momma selected a beautiful Chicaboo Harper gown in Amethyst. I love how the gown shows movement as the breeze blew, but it also showed off her beautiful figure for the portraits.

I also love when moms share details about their pregnancy with me. Sometimes, I’m able to incorporate them into the session – either during or in post-processing. This precious baby happens to be a rainbow baby. A baby that is born after a loss. I knew that I wanted to do something special here, so I added a rainbow in memory of their baby gone too soon. I hope the beauty, joy, and remembrance in this image is cherished for many years to come.
